Things bought at the Flea Market Friday 26 June 2015 - A wedding gift: Embroidered clock (Item 4 of 6)

I bought this item yesterday (Friday 27 June 2015) at the Alor Setar weekly flea market located near the KG Berjaya market in Mergong

This must surely be a wedding present.

I can just imagine the love and dedication to embroider such a colourful piece of art work.

What a good idea to make it into a clock as the occupants of the house will surely look at it dearly and remember the person who made it.

There are lots of  symbolic meanings in this piece.

The lotus plant signifies purity of mind, body and soul while giving a sense of peacefulness.

The pair of Mandarin ducks, in Chinese mythology, are believed to be lifelong couples, Portraying them reflects conjugal affection and fidelity.

The Chinese character "Xi" symbolises happiness
